“Beyrouth Rewind” starts with the author’s deceased mother mysteriously appearing at the launch of his previous comic “Beyrouth Bye Bye“, in September 2015, during the garbage crisis and all the protests that ensued. In an attempt to make up for the overtly dark tone of “Bye Bye”, “Rewind” takes us on a poetic journey through the “revolts and revolutions” Lebanon has witnessed since our parents’ days, and until the garbage crisis protests with their claims and slogans and highlights. Avoiding excessive romanticism or propaganda, Rewind manages to bear witness to the intensity of these events, while remaining on a highly poetic level.
