In 1991, Fouad Elkoury was one of the six world famous photographers commissioned to photograph the devastated city centre right at the end of civil war, and prior to its total demolition and reconstruction.
This collective project was financed by the Hariri Foundation and a book was published with the title “Beyrouth Centre-Ville” (Editions du Cyprès, 1992).
The photographic mission included, in addition to Fouad Elkoury, Gabriele Basilico, René Burri, Raymond Depardon, Robert Frank and Josef Koudelka.
Plan BEY is proud to present a selection of 11 photographs from Fouad Elkoury’s 1991 series in poster format.
